Question
Nervous on my plasma purchase-please help
Hi I recently purchase a Samsung 5071 50" plasma from J&R Music World.
I am moving on the 25th and it is going to be delivered to my new place.
It still has not been delivered yet so I could exchange it for a different model. It was the best priced 50" and when I compared the picture in the store to the Sony KDE 955 50" it was very comparable..the Samsung was $1,000 less so I purchased the Samsung. But I have not found any reviews on the Samsung except here, one person said that there was a "Clayface" issue - that some faces looked like watercoler.
Also, I was not going to use the tv much for HDTV because I was going to run my new laptop with Windows media center DVR recording through the TV and that does not support HDTV yet. But in the future I think that I will get to use more HDTV
SHould I exchange the TV for another one? They also have a Philips 50PF9966 in addition to the SONY 50".
Answer:
If you did an in-store eye comparison yourself and were satisfied with the results, then why change? You'll hear good and bad reviews on most of the plasmas in this forum..just happens that not alot of people own the Samsung model here (I think it's a bit newer) so maybe there aren't enough opinions out there.
I haven't heard great things about the Samsungs in general but I've only seen a 42 ED model briefly and didn't make any comparisons..I did notice that they are priced very agressively though...which can be a good thing somtimes..
But If you saw it and liked it, I'd hold on to it and do a in-home check..then return it IF you have to...assuming the store has a good return policy..
